About
the Organization
Patient Choices
– Vermont exists to ensure that Vermonters can live and die in freedom and dignity, entrusted with the right to self-determination at the end of life, according to their values.
Its mission and directors are a blend of two prior organizations: Death With Dignity Vermont and End-of-Life Choices Vermont.
Patient Choices Vermont strives
- To protect Vermonters’ fundamental rights to freedom, dignity, and self-determination at the end of life.
- To enhance the quality of care for terminally ill Vermonters through a future of choice that includes a right to know options, optimum utilization of advance directives, and access to palliative care and hospice services.
- To establish Vermonters’ right to physician aid-in-dying through an Oregon-style Death with Dignity law.
